Representing Delaware's Building Industry
We are a professional association of industry leaders who are committed to excellence through our support of legislative, educational and economic initiatives to promote Delaware’s economic well being and quality of life.
The Home Builders Association of Delaware (previously the Builders and Remodelers Association of Delaware) strives to protect and preserve housing as a symbol of America. It has been an integral part of the growth and economic development of the State since 1947. Founded as a non-profit state affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, our organization advocates for Delaware Home Builders, Remodelers, and Associates (supporting businesses in the building industry). Comprised of more than 6,000 employees in the housing, development, and real estate communities, our membership makes up a substantial portion of the workforce and touches virtually every aspect of the Delaware economy.
Our membership database is comprised of more than 350 member companies who employ thousands of individuals working across all divisions of Delaware's construction industry.
Legislative Action / Government Affairs
HBADE partners with Ruggerio, Willson, & Watson, a public affairs and government relations firm, to lobby on issues and causes important to our members. Our team is constantly working to protect our members' best interests and we encourage active participation from all members to ensure your voice is heard. HBADE's biggest legislative wins recently include keeping the construction industry essential during COVID-19, passing two pieces of the Ready in 6 package, and negotiating compromises for costly requirements related to EV charging infrastructure and mandatory residential sprinklers.
Our Government Affairs Committee meets monthly to discuss current issues, legislation, and strategies. All members, both builders and associates, are invited to participate in these meetings. Please email Katie if interested.
Additionally, HBADE members meet regularly with county/town officials to review regulations, problems, forms, etc. If you're interested in signing up to receive emails about upcoming meetings, click the link(s) below:
Education
We are proud to offer free education to members and prospective members. Topics include legal issues, green building/sustainability, accounting/bookkeeping, code updates, OSHA, Human Resources, and more! While prospective members are invited to participate in the live education webinars, a library of recorded webinars is available only to HBADE members.
Additionally, HBADE is proud to participate in workforce development events to educate younger generations about careers in the construction industry. Contact Katie to learn how to get your school or organization involved!
Economic Initiatives
A single year of residential construction activity generates significant economic impacts including income and jobs for residents, and revenue for state and local governments. But it doesn't stop there. Additional, recurring economic impacts are felt when those homes are occupied by residents who pay taxes and buy goods and services produced in our state. This ripple effect is crucial to Delaware's current and future economic landscape.
Construction is a thriving industry in Delaware, and HBADE members contribute to a significant portion of the economic gains that result from new homes built, new jobs created, and more people and businesses moving to our state. A report by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) estimates the impacts of building 6,000 single-family and 900 multifamily homes in the State of Delaware:
